Boat owners investing in a boat lift or considering buying one need to realize that this vital component of a boat's maintenance requirements helps keeps the external surface of a boat clean and free from damage that can occur when one has to reach the inaccessible parts of a boat.

Understanding the real function of a boat lift as a useful cleaning support device that lifts the vessel out of water and keeps it air-suspended so you can reach it to clean, wax and dry it properly besides inspecting it on occasion so the hull is dirt-free, goes a long way in ensuring the life and value of your boat.

Different categories of boat lifts

Chiefly, ,there are 3 kinds of boat lifts in the market today; depending on your need and the place of storage, buyers can invest in the following:

1. Floating boat lifts - work on the air tank principle; when this is filled with air, the tank lifts the boat and once air is released, the boat gets lowered. This kind of boat lift can be used with seawalls, standing docks as well as floating dock areas.

2. Standing boat lifts - are ideal for constant water level storage areas but should be avoided for use in ocean waters as tidal wave changes affect the water level more than a few feet, which is the criterion for using it effectively. On cranking up a big wheel attached to a lever, these can be easily operated.

3. Mounted boat lifts - raise the boat up between seawalls or pilings and are anchored to with the use of cables or slings, which are generally powered by a motor. This enables the lift to effectively lift the boat up and outside water levels.

Benefits of using a boat lift

Mainly, the benefits of using boat lifts include keeping boat clean, raising its longevity, is protecting the hull of the boat from sea-algae and water-stains, all of which can result in faster depreciation of the value of a boat and also does away with the need for a fresh paint job!

A money-saving proposition, the boat lifts are a big help for owners looking to protect their expensive vessel from storm-damage and scratches, cracks and other nature-induced ill-effects, thereby keeping it looking good for a long time. Thus, experts advise boat owners to invest a little extra in buying boat lifts that increase all these advantages of owning a vessel with a long life and lots of fun in coming years.

About the author

Abhishek has a passion for Boating since the last 30 years! The well known Hamilton turn or "jet spin" is a high speed manoevre where the boat is turned sharply then the engine throttle is cut causing the boat's stern to lift and spin quickly around with a large spray of water.
Buy a water jet boat at our store.

More Boating, Sailing And Marine Info
Solar Panel Life-span On Sailing Yachts?

Sun, 25 Nov 2007 11:41:35 +0200
Just wondering how long some of you have had your solar panels? Conventional dinghies and small sport boats rock almost uncontrollably whenever anyone moves about. Inflatables, with their buoyancy tubes, sit flat in the water and are almost impossible to flip over. This offers a feeling of security to even the most nervous boaters and allows swimmers or divers to slide back on board without upsetting the boat. More buoyancy of inflatable boats means bigger load-carrying capacity. Inflatable boats are designed with built-in buoyancy. The inflatable collar, or tubeset, is the key that allows inflatable boats to carry very heavy payloads in a safe and stable manner. An added benefit is that they are virtually unsinkable, and can generally operate even with one or more chambers of the collar deflated.

The use of a jet ski or any other personal watercraft is often limited by state or local laws. There may be helmet, age and flotation device regulations as well, so jet ski owners should always check before putting their PWCs in unfamiliar waters. Speedboats and other large recreational watercraft often cannot avoid collisions with smaller jet skis. Irresponsible actions on a jet ski can also lead to dangerous encounters with swimmers and traditional water skiiers. There is also a temptation for some jet ski drivers to deliberately drive through the wake of larger boats.
Buy cheap sailboats at our store.

More Boating, Sailing And Marine Info
Sailing Crew Wanted For Biscay And Atlantic Passages Leaving UK In September.

Sun, 20 May 2007 15:31:28 +0200
We are a large family leaving UK in September to cross the Atlantic to the Caribbean on our brand new sailing yacht, a Lagoon 420 catamaran looking for competent and adventurous individual or couple to help us on the long passages (Biscay and Atlantic) and possibly beyond if it works out..........

Details .....

"Ghost Yacht" (Kaz 2) found drifting off the Australian east coast.

Sun, 22 Apr 2007 18:22:18 +0200
Three sailors missing from the sailing yacht Kaz 11 found drifting off the Australian east coast. In daylight, reflective boat lettering looks like ordinary boat lettering with the exception there is a visible depth to the color and tone. At night, this lettering reflects your position on the waterway with even the smallest amount of light cast from an approaching boat. Under searchlight, you can see the reflective boat name lettering from miles away under clear conditions.

For maximum conspicuity, reflective boat lettering on the transom along with reflective registration numbers on the sides provides nearly 360 degree visibility. You can also add reflective boat graphics or reflective pin striping in widths up to 2 inches as a color accent to your boat. You can be very creative with reflective products beyond the simple addition of reflective boat lettering decals. There is a very wild example of being creative with reflective boat lettering with the addition of reflective boat graphics.

See 'The Party Hut' pontoon boat on display at: http://www.streetglo.net/custom-boat-name-decal-photos.html

This recently refurbished pontoon boat takes on a new an extrodinary life with style and safety using reflective safety vinyl. You can visit your local vinyl fabricator or shop for reflective boat lettering online. There are several firms that specialize only in reflective products.

For additional night safety precautions, you might want to also check your boat now for the necessary night safety equipment. You should check your flares to make sure they have not become older than the expiration date on the packaging.

You should also check out the new battery free flashlights to insure you always have a source of light when and if your electrical system should fail. On my boat, I have two of these battery free flashlights - fore and aft. You simply shake these flashlights for 30 seconds and youll have 5 minutes of light and never worry about keeping your batteries replaced.

With the boating season only a few months away, now is the time to prepare for all those wonderful boating day and nights soon to be upon us boaters.

Happy Boating!

About the author

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=William_Agreste

More Information On sloop sailboat

Jet boat engines come in two varieties inboard and outboard. Regardless of the type of motor, the jet system consumes about 30% of the engines horsepower while taking in the water and accelerating it out the back. A 50HP outboard fitted with a jet unit will make about 35HP at the nozzle. Other typical combinations you see are 25/20, 60/40, 90/65, 115/80, 150/105, and 200/140.
Buy a cheap jet boat for sale at our store.

More Boating, Sailing And Marine Info
To All Cruisers - Information On Cruising Expenses.

Sat, 22 Dec 2007 20:35:45 +0200
This is not "how much does it cost to cruise." This isn't "How much did you spend in Fiji?" This is, "what do you spend on a monthly or weekly basis in the various ports while cruising?" It doesn't have to be exact, and shouldn't be overblown, but this is intended to buttress the arguments of many destination-based businesses that cruising sailors are good for the local economy. This is a subject near and dear to my heart, because it isn't just Fiji who discounts the cruising sailor as a benefit to the economy, and it's the powerful resorts who get the ear of government in most economies dependent upon the tourist dollar.

Sailing west across the Indian Ocean from Australia?

Fri, 22 Dec 2006 23:33:59 +0200
Tony Herrick has published two new marine ebooks covering the sailing passage across the Indian Ocean. 1) "Indian Ocean Crossing Notes - East to West and West to East". 2) "Cruising the Islands & Atolls of the Mozambigue Channel" And of course his ebook "Welcome to Durban - A Sailor's Guide" - to assist sailors to make safe landfall in South Africa.

Details ......

U.S. East Coast, Caribbean, The World!, Long-Term Cruising Under Sail

Tue, 30 Oct 2007 20:50:23 +0200
I'm looking for one-time, some-time or full-time crew, depending on your schedule and how much fun we have sailing together. By twisting the throttle, the driver can increase power to the motor. Steering a jet ski requires a combination of pointing the front-mounted grips and maneuvering the body. Unlike a street motorcycle, a jet ski often requires significant acceleration to accomplish sharp turns in the water.
Buy cheap sailboats at our store.

Rustler 42 yacht- Designed by Stephen Jones with fast, safe passage making in mind. Combining style that is traditional yet modern with a proven cruising layout and excellent sailing performance, the result is a classic combination built to last a lifetime. Her long fully encapsulated lead keel and big skeg hung rudder give her excellent directional stability in any seaway. Her generous displacement, safe performance and sea kindly characteristics make her a very forgiving and confidence inspiring yacht. Primarily, the Rustler 42 accommodation is designed for living in safety and comfort when under way. However, the spacious, light and airy saloon and galley area make entertaining and living in harbour everything you desire. Every Rustler 42 is built to take the worst of prevailing seas, to look after her crew and inspire every yachtsman with blue water aspirations. The Rustlers heavy weather characteristics are why many are being sailed on long distance cruises, a few are on single handed passages but usually they are sailed by couples who find the safe ease of handling ideal for short handed sailing. She is immensely strong, hull and deck mouldings are laid up by hand using quadraxial matting with isophalic resin. Bulkheads are fully glassed to the hull and deck. Together with substantial stringers and a lead encapsulated keel the result is a yacht with unrivalled strength and endurance. Each yacht can be customised to an owners specification.
However the Rustler 42 has been perfected over many boats giving a well proven standard configuration.
Buy hunter sailboats at our store.

A bluewater fishing boat is a mid-size to large deep-V boat suitable for offshore fishing. And when it comes to boating theres no difference. Boating accessories abound, designed to enhance the boaters experience and add a level of convenience and luxury to otherwise ordinary endeavors. Boating accessories can supplement the many features of a boat and add to the comfort level onboard; they can also take luxury to a new level.

Of course, there are required boating accessories such as those safety items that remain onboard at all times including life jackets, fire extinguishers, distress signals such as flares, a throwable ring or cushion to reach someone who has fallen overboard, a first aid kit, several flashlights with extra batteries, and working lights on the boat. It is also important to have a compass or GPS on board for navigational purposes, as well as a radio for open communication. Some states also require a bilge pump on board that will handle any water the boat has taken on in an emergency. There are other non-required but highly recommended - safety boating accessories such as a life boat. For longer trips especially it makes the most sense to carry as much as you can in order to be as prepared as possible.

There are also highly entertaining boating accessories that making boating the fun activity that so many people enjoy. The inclusion of sporting equipment such as water skiing equipment, jet skis, and fishing poles makes boating about more than just the boat itself but rather the activities that can happen around it.

Onboard living has become the greatest in luxury; more and more boat owners are detailing their boats with the latest boating accessories designed to enhance the onboard experience. Boating accessories such as convenience appliances microwaves, blenders, etc. - and entertainment equipment specially designed DVD players, boat specific speaker systems - have made staying on a boat the ultimate in comfort and luxury.

Boating accessories make boating more than just a weekend activity; they make your boat another home where you and your family can be as comfortable if not more comfortable than you would be on land.

About the author

For easy to understand, in depth information about boating accessories visit our ezGuide 2 Boating.
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Michelle_Bery

More Info On outboard jet boat
The sport of Jet Ski Freestyle has seen many additions over the year; including great female freestylers and freestyle on runabout jet skis. Martorella

If you have an aluminum boat, then an aluminum boat trailer is what you need to haul it around, and get it to the fishing hole you love going to. Aluminum boats are great for fishing lakes, and ponds. You really would not want to take one into the ocean unless you have a larger one however. It just might not hold up against the waves, and you might be wishing you had not taken it out once you get it out in the water.

When you have an aluminum boat trailer for your aluminum boat, you have access to getting into the lakes where you could not get in to go fishing at before. This makes fishing so much more fun, and easy. Back that trailer up to the water and push your boat off the trailer with an easy push. You will wonder how you ever fished without a trailer, and will be glad of the investment that you made.

Sometimes when you buy an aluminum boat, you can get a great deal on an aluminum boat trailer if you buy at the sale time. This is a great deal if you save enough money to make both purchases worth your while, and what good is a boat if you don't have a trailer. You can not go fishing alone if you do not own a trailer for your boat. How will you get the boat into the water alone without a friend helping you? You will not.

You will find that an aluminum boat trailer can vary in price ranges. Remember that you get what you pay for, and that you should buy the best that you can afford. Besides, if you have a good boat, you want a good trailer to pull it on. Otherwise, what is the point? Always buy the best that you can in a trailer, as well anything that has to do with the trailer. You will see that your boat trailer will last for ages, and you will be glad that you bought a good one in the long run.

One important thing that you need to remember when you go to buy your trailer for your aluminum boat. You will need to know how large the boat is, and what brand name it is for the best fit on a trailer. The length measurement will come in handy, and you will be glad you took this information along with you.

About the author

Brent has been a car salesman for more than 30 years and has recommended and helped his clients to finding the right automobiles and trailers for their needs. Her paces were shown in the ARC Transatlantic Rally where the Bowman 42 "Eternity of Hamble" won her class and finished 5th overall, one of the four yachts from the Rival Bowman yard taking part in the event. The Bowman 42 combines the skills of top cruising yacht designer; Chuck Paine, with the exceptional building expertise of the Rival Bowman craftsmen. The interior layout of the Bowman 42 can be tailored to an owner's specification, providing the yacht with an individual custom-built character. Whatever the chosen layout, the accommodation will share the style and craftsmanship which has earned Bowman an enviable reputation for quality.
Buy a cruising sailboat at our store.

A key feature about all inflatable boats is their incredible stability.

Some of the more advanced inflatable boats, like Zodiac's Fastroller, feature a special High-Pressure inflatable air floor. Made of two layers of fabric, connected by thousands of tiny "drop stitches", this floor can be inflated to a high pressure, creating a floor with rigidity equal to sheet of plywood a fraction of the weight. Best of all, they can be completely deflated and stowed in only minutes without removing any parts. This high pressure air floor is softer on knees and backsides too.

More Boating, Sailing And Marine Info
Cara's Commentary & Community Chat, Thurs., Oct. 30, 2008, 8:23am ET

Thu, 30 Oct 2008 15:51:28 GMT

The good people of Detroit Michigan can rest assured today that there will be no bankruptcies at the Big Three.

Ericsson 3 Due in Cape Town Early Tomorrow

CAPE TOWN, South Africa - Ericsson Racing Team is expecting Ericsson 3, skippered by Anders Lewander, to arrive in Cape Town in the early hours tomorrow morning, Monday.

It has been a busy day for Ericsson Racing Team following the arrival of Ericsson 4 this morning. When deflated and folded into its carry bag a typical 8 foot inflatable measures about 3 feet x 2 feet and weighs about 80 lbs. At this size, you can see that an inflatable tender is easily stowed in a locker on board, below decks or in a closet or shed at home. They're also very convenient to take on picnics or on vacation, even in a small car.

Pleasure craft made in Canada, or imported to Canada, after August 1, 1981, must have a HIN marking. If you can no longer obtain a HIN from the manufacturer, or if the vessel is home-built, request an application package from a Transport Canada Centre to obtain one.
There is an amazing boat sale at our store.

Sailboats are one of humankind's first and most revolutionary transportation inventions. This is the protective shield that will ensure that your boat is safeguarded from many different problems. Though you may not realize the worth of having a cover for your boat initially, you will definitely realize what it can do for the well being of your boat finally. This simple accessory will bring down the cost of the wear and tear of your boat enormously. Taking into consideration the cost of repairs that could be a factor of having no protection for your boat, it is a wise decision to get a suitable boat cover.

Covers can provide several indispensable benefits for your boat

1. The boat remains clean and protected from dirt and rubbish

2. Protects from water and dampness

3. Prevents mildew and fungus

4. Protects the boat from the elements

5. Keep creatures out when boat is stationery

6. Reduces the threat of theft

With all these uses for a boat cover you will be convinced that you do need to procure one as soon as possible instead of leaving your boat open to any kind of damage.

1. Quality Standard of Boat Covers :

A good quality boat cover would be the first category on your list of choices. The durability of the fabric of the boat cover and the protective qualities that it can provide your boat with, are another essential factor.

2. The right size :

You would have to know what the size of your boat is. The cover that you buy should not be too loose or too tight. One that is too loose would not be able to seal the boat off securely and one that is too tight would be problematic to get on to your boat. The best option would be to get a custom built cover so that there is no error in the size that is required.

3. Sun Protection :

The fabric should be resistant to and one that gives protection from the ultra violet rays of the sun. If the cover fades due to the sunlight it will start looking old and shabby soon. The cover should also be mildew and water resistant. If the cover is of poor quality it will not have all these protective features and the whole purpose of putting a cover on the boat will be lost.

4. The ideal weight :

A lightweight boat cover will make it easier for you to handle it by yourself, instead of struggling with something that is heavy and unmanageable. The tie down straps of the cover should be tough and not snap. Ensure that your boat cover comes with a warranty so that if it tears you can always get a refund on it.

The manufacturer of the boat will be able to assist you as to what sort of cover would be an appropriate cover for your boat. Though most boat covers are an expensive feature they are worth the money you spend on, as this will finally give good protection for your boat.

About the author

Abhishek has a passion for Boating since the last 30 years! In the Starlight 35 Mk2, Stephen has provided a fast hull and easily manageable sail plan, combined with an accommodation layout which combines space and comfort with safety and seaworthiness. She was chosen by the judges in the Yachting World Rally as the best yacht in her size range. The Starlight 35 Mk2 enjoys exceptional qualities of thermal and acoustic insulation achieved by a building process which incorporates an inner and outer moulding, enclosing a foam core. This provides a hull which is quieter, warmer and has a noticeable lack of condensation compared with conventionally constructed yachts. The ambience achieved in the cabins from this construction method is therefore exceptional.
Buy a 40 sailboat at our store.

A schooner can have two or more masts, the aftermost mast taller or equal to the height of the forward mast(s), distinguishing this design from a ketch or a yawl. However, most privately owned yachts fall in the range of about 2545 feet (714 m); the cost of building and keeping a yacht rises quickly as length increases. In the U.S., sailors tend to refer to smaller yachts as sailboats, while referring to the general sport of sailing as yachting. Within the limited context of sailboat racing, a yacht is any sailing vessel taking part in a race, regardless of size.
Buy all your wakeboarding boats at our store.

All The Latest News From The Boating, Sailing And Marine World
Mystic Seaport Names New President and CEO

A new marina for sailing yachts in the Maldives.

Wed, 31 Jan 2007 21:12:35 +0200
There is a new marina (the only one) in the Maldives in the Indian Ocean.

Details .....

Sailing crew for Whitsundays Islands, Australia To Png And Solomons.

Sun, 25 Nov 2007 11:47:46 +0200
Cutter sloop 13.4 Meters and master/owner require sailing crew for great passage and cruising. For example, most modern jet skis have a lanyard. The lanyard turns the jet ski off automatically if you fall off or overturn the jet ski. A very old jet ski may not have a lanyard, so be certain to ascertain that a used jet ski has one prior to purchasing.
Find sailboats for sale at our store.

Your boats seaworthiness can depend on the load you put in it and where you put it. Too much weight can overload your boat and cause it to become unstable or allow small waves to come aboard. It will also reduce the amount your boat can roll before its sides dip under. Weight that is carried too high will reduce stability, making your boat more apt to roll and less inclined to return to an upright position
Find great prices on used boats at our store.

Boating, Sailing And Marine News From Around The World
2008 iShares Cup: Amsterdam final on TV as event exceeds expectations in indepen

Sailing Crew Wanted From Gibraltar To St Lucia With Arc 2007.

Mon, 27 Aug 2007 18:23:05 +0200
Boat details: Island Packet 420 - 44 foot cruising sloop, fully equipped for long range sailing with two onboard chart plotters, genset, solar panels, wind generator, watermaker, SSB, AIS, radar, and all safety equipment required and recommended by the ARC committee. It is one of those things where you can spend as much money as you wish on equipment for your new cruiser or sailing yacht, so you must give yourself a budget. Obviously, there is a set of essential equipment that all water goers must have, but then there are different sets of equipment required, dependent on whether you will be messing around locally or being more adventurous with long off-shore trips.
Buy a catalina 30 sailboat at our store.

Boating, Sailing And Marine Galore
Financial analysts lower expectations for Brunswick

Tue, 14 Oct 2008 19:31:25 GMT

" After Thursday's announcement that Brunswick would cut 1,400 additional jobs, several analysts have downgraded their forecasts for the company.

Big Ketch From Venezuela/Grenada Northwards, share expenses, no experience required, start November.

Fri, 16 Nov 2007 16:08:03 +0200
We have an empty private cabin and are looking for an agreeable person or couple to help us sail back north, up the Windward Islands as far as Florida. Firstly, Aqua Salveo is needed to demonstrate a killing efficiency with regards to bactaria, fungi and possibly viruses and secondly, as the product is intended for people, it needed to be safe, even when used on a regular basis. Aqua Salveo contains no chlorine or bleaches. Keeping a boat in great shape can be an even greater achievement since it involves a great deal of time, effort and money. Boats require constant attention. So one of the first things you need to consider after you've purchased your boat is protecting it from the onslaughts of nature.

Deciding on the Type of Center Console Boat Cover

The best center console boat cover is one that will ensure total protection from all types of harm that nature can cause to the boat. You will need to consider rain, UV rays, moisture build-up, and dust-dirt-debris floating in the air, in addition to possible thieves. A center console boat cover should ensure that your boat is protected from these events. There are also concerns regarding high variations of temperature, exposure to snow and wind loaded with sand and other particles.

UV ray protection: There is nothing more harmful than the sun beating down mercilessly on your unprotected boat. Continuous exposure to sun will badly affect both the upholstery and the console. This will ensure that the sun's direct rays do not reach the sensitive parts of the boat and cause expensive or irreparable damage.

Rain protection: Rain can be a great enemy of anything remaining stationery and unattended. The modern center console boat covers available on the market today not only protect the boat from rain, they also allow air to circulate on the boat and permit moisture helps to evaporate.

Debris protection: Dust can be another enemy that diminishes the longevity of the boat. If the boat is exposed to dust and pollutants over a long period of time, it can develop mildew and mold and the dirt build-up can be extremely difficult to remove.

Thieves and invaders protection: a snugly-fitting center console boat cover will ensure that your boat is protected to a great extent against thieves. Of course, a cover is not designed to give full protection in this regard, but if fitted well, it can reduce the chance of theft.

It will act as a protector from the vagaries of nature, reduce your maintenance costs and ensure that your boat has a long life.

About the author

Chris Miley is the owner of the websites Pontoon Boat Site where you can find the latest information on pontoon boats and Marine Diesel Secrets - dedicated to helping you maintain your marine diesel engine.
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Christopher_Miley

Tips About yamaha seadoo
The sport of Jet Ski Freestyle has seen many additions over the year; including great female freestylers and freestyle on runabout jet skis. In the begnning all jet ski racers had to do freestyle, so we saw the like of Cristy Carlson and others freestyling. In the early 1990s saw Patti Mogan take to the freestyle water against many top riders, then later Rambo Rosie Nuttall became a force in freestyle doing her patent "figure skating" style tricks.
Buy a cheap sailboat at our store.

Day sailing yachts are usually small sub-20-feet (6 m) in length. Sometimes called dinghies, they often have a retractable keel, centerboard, or daggerboard. Most day sailing yachts do not have a cabin, as they are designed for hourly or daily use and not for overnight journeys. At best they may have a 'cubby', where the front part of the hull has a raised solid roof to provide a place to store equipment or to provide basic shelter from wind or spray.
Buy a cheap ski boat at our store.

Boating, Sailing And Marine News
Freestanding Rigs And..., ... other non traditional approaches.

Thu, 8 Nov 2007 21:05:13 +0200
If anyone's interested in a quick and pretty convincing overview of the value of freestanding rigs, I guess that you could do a lot worse than talk to Eric Sponberg who's not only enthusiastic and clearly knowledgeable but also has a pretty straightforward writing style - I understood nearly every word first time round so ...

Details ....

Sailing through the Panama Canal - lessons learned.

Sat, 23 Jun 2007 17:55:05 +0200
We had heard a bunch of horror stories about sailing a yacht through the Panama Canal, but we just went across last week and had no problems. It's important to understand the basics of
boat loans so that you can secure the best boat loan possible.
So how do you do that?

A lot of lenders will be happy to grant you a boat loan. Just
remember, they're in business so they are looking out for their
best interests and not neccessarily yours.

But these boat lenders
need customers to stay in business so if you make it clear that
you are shopping around, they'll start looking at putting together
a boat loan offer that works well for you.

Where can you get a boat loan?

* Credit Unions

* Boat Dealers

* Financial Services Companies

* Boat Brokers

* Banks

The first place to check for a boat loan would be with a lender that
you've done business with in the past.

If you've been a customer for
awhile and they offer boat loans, it's a pretty good bet that they'll
work with you to give you good terms on your boat loan.

You'll still want to shop around and see what other terms you can get,
just to be sure. This include boat loan terms such as interest rates,
length of the boat loan, and monthly payments.

The types of boat loans available are:

* Fixed Rate Loan

* Variable Interest Rate Loan

* Simple Interest Rate Boat Loan

* A Balloon Payment Boat Loan

Keep in mind that your credit history, job stability, income, size of down
payment and length of the boat loan all will play factors in the terms you
can get, as well as which type of boat loan would be best for your financial
situation.

Once the boat loan is taken care of, you'll be ready for lots of great experiences
and adventures on your new boat.

About the author

For more information on boating accessories, check out Charlie Johnson's site http://www.theboatingexpert.com for tons of free articles and information on boating, including a free report, 'Tips, Tricks & Resources for Financing the Boat of Your Dreams!'
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Charlie_Johnson

Tips On buying a sailboat
Remember, these are maximum recommendations for fair weather operation. They have excellent performance, handling and versatility and are known to be very safe. I am at a crossroads in my life and am excited for the next adventure. My plan is to purchase a sailboat with the proceeds from the sale of my business and live/cruise/relax/explore for 6 months of the year- every year! (if anyone has any recommendations for what I should buy - I'm all ears - I'm looking to spend around $200kusd and like the idea of a multi hull) I have limited sailing experience but am certified in advanced navigation standard and off shore cruising standard by CYA. Because of my limited on water experience I am looking for an experienced person to be the "captain" of the boat and teach me along the way! Hopefully the candidate will be easy to get a long with and will be able to stay with the boat long term. (I will need someone to sail/maintain her when I'm not there for 6 months of the year!) The crew will only be expected to contribute an equal share of the cost of food and drinks. The well known Hamilton turn or "jet spin" is a high speed manoevre where the boat is turned sharply then the engine throttle is cut causing the boat's stern to lift and spin quickly around with a large spray of water.
Buy a water jet boat at our store.

Most monohulls larger than a dinghy require ballast, depending on the design ballast will be 20 to 50 percent of the displacement. The ballast is often integrated into their keels as large masses of lead or cast iron. This secures the ballast and gets it as low as possible to improve it's effectivness. External keels are cast in the shape of the keel. A monohull's keel is made effective by a combination of weight, depth and length.
Buy a new jet boat at our store.

For many years all inflatables were made of Neoprene/Hypalon (or rubber) materials. Today modern materials and construction processes have made it possible to make inflatables out of strong plastic materials called PVC or Strongan (Zodiac's fabric). So, today most inflatables are made out of PVC or Hypalon. Each fabric is different and requires different fabric and glue for repairs.

Boating, Sailing And Marine Stories
Temporary Removal of Durban's Visitor Jetty

Fri, 1 Jun 2007 11:44:17 +0200
Due to dredging operations taking place in the vicinity of Durban's international/visitors jetty, the jetty has been temporarily removed. Ah, but this is often impossible given large land masses, which brings us to the issue of boat transports.

There is no question that the best way to get your boat from point A to point B is to sail it there. Some time this is not possible for the simple reason that there is no water between these two points. This is where boat transport comes into play. Of course, smaller boats have their own trailers and even many larger boats have them. It is the real large boats that require special trucking services. Many boat trucking companies are called yacht moving companies for this reason.

The boat trucking companies offer water to water service. They will pick up the boat from its original mooring and transfer it to any location in the world. The trucking companies are often called relocation companies for this reason. They provide everything that you need to safely relocate your boat from one location to the other. In many cases, there are even professional pilots available in the event that some part of the transfer must be on water.

Preparation for travel is one of the most important factors in the safe boat trucking of your boat. Despite all efforts to prevent damage, moving the boat over a highway is risky. If preparation is done properly, the risk is minimized. It is important to remove all protruding antennas or rigging. All loose items must be properly stowed and secured. It is very important to insure that all items of value and personal items are removed from the boat and transported separately. In almost every case, the boat trucking company will not assume responsibility for the loss of valuables or personal items.

There is some controversy about shrink wrapping the boat prior to transfer. Some boat trucking companies offer this service, and some owners have it done themselves prior to transport. It is essential that the shrink wrapping is done properly because if it tears during transport it will usually result in damage from flapping shrink wrap or abrasion.

Insurance is another issue. Most boat trucking companies will provide the opportunity to procure insurance coverage for the move. This insurance can supplement your existing insurance if it has transport provisions. In either case, a through inspection of the boat and accurate documentation of the boats condition before the move and after the move is essential. There are going to be times when large boats must be transported across land for one reason or another. When this happens, there are some very competent boat trucking companies ready to do it with a minimum of fuss.

About the author

Jonny Holderbrock writes boat information articles for BoatDealerDepot.com.
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Jonny_Holderbrock

Hints On boat ski bar
Make sure you are seen on the water. Even in bright, calm conditions a kayak can be nearly invisible. It is especially difficult for power-driven vessel and large vessel operators riding high in the water to see kayaks. Choose bright colours such as red, yellow or orange for your flotation device and kayak. Also, remember to keep signalling devices within hands reach in case of emergency.
Buy a power yacht at our store.

Rustler 36 yacht- This well-proven, fast, blue water cruiser, from the designers Holman and Pye, inspires complete confidence with excellent sailing performance and quality of design. The Rustler 36 is very much a yacht for the experienced and discerning sailor. She is immensely strong, hull and deck mouldings are laid up by hand to Lloyds Register approved specifications using Lloyds approved materials. Each yacht is customised and hand built to an owners specification
Buy used sailboats at our store.

Racing yachts try to reduce the wetted surface area, which creates drag, by keeping the hull light whilst having a deep and heavy bulb keel, allowing them to support a tall mast with a great sail area. Modern designs tend to have a very wide beam and a flat bottom, to provide buoyancy preventing an excessive heel angle. Speeds of up to 35 knots can be attained in extreme conditions. Dedicated offshore racing yachts sacrifice crew comfort for speed, having basic accommodation to reduce weight. Depending on the type of race, such a yacht may have a crew of 15 or more. We don't know Indonesia very well, anyone have any suggestions as to any other actions she should take?

"Great to hear from you and get the photos. Life is stressful for me right now. Terry and his yacht "No Komis" are the subject of a search by Search & Rescue, Indonesia. The EPIRB went off last Saturday afternoon, transmitted for about 25 hours and stopped. There has been no Sailmail since Nov 28. Terry was leaving the next day for a brief overnight passage of 100nm. This could be a series of events, none serious, but then again, who knows. Any one thing is no problem, but putting them together does make you wonder what has happened. ......"

Full details ....

Boating Tips for Winter - Winterizing Your Boat

It's that time of year again - time to winterize your boat if you live in colder climates. The Squib has gone on to reach national status with more than 800 on the water. In 1970, a chap named Michael Poland requested that the builder design a "lid" for the Squib, to enable him to sail it across the English Channel. As Poland's other favourite past-time was hunting, the boat was named the HUNTER 19! Oliver also designed a Squib with a lifting keel, called a TRACER, and then redesigned the Hunter 19 naming the new boat the EUROPA.

sea doo challenger | seadoo gsx | seadoo jet ski

The Boating Scene Review

Our Latest Marine Article
Actual-Facts Boat Buying Guide for First Timers

By Kathryn Ali

You are so excited that you have made the decision to join the world of boat owners. You want to buy your very first boat! Are you ready to go to the local marine dealer? Have you been asking questions, doing research about the type of boat you are looking for? There are some things that a first time boat buyer needs to think about before you make the big buy.

Boating is expensive. Are you going to use it enough to make it worth all investment and time that goes into a power boat for example and its upkeep?

Think about the costs of purchasing the boat, license, insurance, interest, fuel, oil, trailer, storage, repairs, use of a two vehicle, weekend trips, more fishing gear, skis, life jacketsEtc. There is a lot more to consider than buying a car.

There is also the time to consider getting everything ready before and after each outing in the boat.

Boat Shows: Going to a Boat Show is a great way to see what types and styles of boats are out there to choose from. It is a great place to collect information and to see the boats up close. You can learn a lot from the salespeoples own experiences. The salespeople can help you decide what size of boat you want. They should also be able to offer information about winterization, repairs, towing etc.

Boat Type: What type of boat are you looking for? Do you plan to operate it in salt water? Are you hoping to go fishing, ski, and cruise with your boat? The type of boats needs to suit your needs and time.

Big Is Not Always Best: It always is not better to buy the biggest boat your first time. They are harder to handle and look after. For a new boater, it also takes time to learn how to dock. Why not buy a small used boat the first time. There is a lot to learn and you wont be so upset when you hit the dock a few times.

Asking Price versus Selling Price: When you see a boat that you like, go to another boat dealer to compare prices and value. You can go online to compare boat prices too. That sticker price does not always mean the real price. Some times you can bargain and lower the price too. (Just as in buying a car) Have some fun. Learn to haggle so you can get a decent price.

Buying a new boat is quite the same as buying a new car. But there are far more safety rules to follow with boating. Take your time, do your research and you will find the boat that you want. Happy Boating.

By: Kathryn Ali Copyright

http://boating.actual-facts.com 2007

About the author

Kathryn Ali is the Owner and Author of http://www.boating.actual-facts.com

More Information On corvette ski boat
Now factor in the fuel efficiency of Yamaha marine engines, and youve got an incredibly proficient boat. Durban Clipper will be competing again in the Clipper 07-08 Round the World Yacht Race when it sets off from Liverpool, UK, on 16 September this year. This will be the second time Durban Clipper has taken part in the race – having finished on the podium in a very creditable second place in Clipper 05-06. With the exception of the skippers, none of the crews are professional sailors and many of those taking part have never sailed before beginning their comprehensive race training. It is not too late for people from South Africa to sign up to take part in this 35,000-mile ocean race. Durban Clipper was narrowly beaten to second place on her first outing by westernaustralia.com Clipper, so there is a great deal of Southern Hemisphere pride to play for!

Details ....

seadoo jet skis
hunter sailboats

More Info On Boating

Boating Scene Articles
Cheap Boat Insurance

By Alison Cole

One of the absolute pleasures that an individual can attain is by possessing his own boat. Cheap boat insurance reflects that the cost of boat insurance is relatively low, but at the same time it grants substantial damage coverage against any mishaps which might damage the boat.

This coverage is extensive, and offers coverage for the boat, its equipment and supplementary gear, outboard motors, boat trailer and individual assets. A cheap boat insurance policy offers physical destruction coverage on an actual cash value or an agreed amount value foundation. Together, boat insurance policies tender vital coverage for the boat, but there are major disparities.

Actual cash value policies finance replacement costs, minus depreciation at the point of the loss. In the event of total damage, second-hand boat pricing directions and additional funds are used to decide the estimated market rate of the boat. Partial damage costs are calculated by getting the entire charges of the restoration, minus the deductible.

Agreed amount value policies mean that the owner of the boat and the insurance company have decided on the cost of the boat, and in the aftermath of a total loss the owner will be compensated with that amount.

Agreed amount value policies also replace old objects with new ones, exclusive of any assumption for depreciation. The majority of agreed amount value policies necessitate actual cash value on specific destroyed assets like sails, protective covers, batteries, dinghies, trailers and aged outboard motors, lower drive units or outdrives.

Cheap boat insurance is an affordable way to shield an asset that might have cost a person his lifes saving.

About the author

Boat Insurance provides detailed information on Boat Insurance, Cheap Boat Insurance, Motor Boat Insurance, Boat Insurance Online and more. More traditional yachts carried a full keel which is generally half or more of the length of the boat. A recent feature is a winged keel, which is short and shallow, but carries a lot of weight in two "wings" which run sideways from the main part of the keel. Even more recent is the concept of canting keels, designed to move the weight at the bottom of a sailboat to the upwind side, allowing the boat to carry more sails.
Find a good used boat at our store.

Boating, Sailing And Marine Stories
Sailing through the Panama Canal - lessons learned.

Sat, 23 Jun 2007 17:55:05 +0200
We had heard a bunch of horror stories about sailing a yacht through the Panama Canal, but we just went across last week and had no problems. This simple configuration is very efficient for sailing towards the wind. The mainsail is attached to the mast and the boom, which is a spar capable of swinging across the boat, depending on the direction of the wind. Depending on the size and design of the foresail it can be called a jib, genoa, or spinnaker; it is possible but not common for a sloop to carry two foresails from the one forestay at one time (wing on wing). The forestay is a line or cable running from near the top of the mast to a point near the bow. In Bermuda, where a rig design influenced by the Lateen rig appeared on boats and came to be known as the Bermuda rig, a large spinnaker was carried on a spinnaker boom when running down-wind. An example of a typical sloop can be seen on the Islander 36.
Find cheap boats for sale at our store.

Starlight 46 yacht- The latest addition to the Starlight fleet combines the talents of two of the top UK yacht designers. Just by the description itself, it also pertains to danger. When you rely your life into a speeding machine, you want to be sure with your safety getting on board and the same as disembarking your boat. You need to have the insurance that you will be safe from the beginning until the end with your jet boat. What you need is your jet boat insurance.

The jet boat is one of the amazing watercrafts that anyone can ride on. It can drive you like a speeding bullet across the water. As lovely as the exciting this water craft may be, it is also the most dangerous machine that you can get on. Jet boats come in various sizes with many different unique designs. Some jet boat owners also have their boats customized according to their need and use. Jet boats are the one that is mostly used in races in the water, and it is also used for water amusement park attraction that gives the thrill to the customers. This insurance will help the owners and the jet boat itself be protected from any damages from scratches, bumps, to engine troubles. But that is not all the aspect that it can cover. Just as most of the watercraft insurance policies cover, they also include the policies for the liability aspect where it can protect the owner of the jet boat from any legal matters or legal suits caused from damaging a third party's property or injuries, or worst case scenario, death that may unfortunately happen with the jet boat.

Of course, if you own a jet boat, the means of using this watercraft is use it with speed. This purpose makes it prone to easy damages and if you do not have insurance for your jet boat to protect you from any legalities, then you will be spending more money out of your pocket if you didn't register for this from the day you purchased your jet boat. You should be meticulous with the offers that companies offer for the jet boat insurance. All companies have the same concept with their insurance policies but you have to be keen to details in order to pick the provider yourself with the best deal for your jet boat insurance.

Either you own a jet boat for personal use or for business, it is your responsibility as the owner that you equip yourself with the insurance or legal matters that you need to comply with. The most important legal step that you need to take is to apply for the insurance of your jet boat. An amazing watercraft can turn out to be very expensive if all you think about is only using it and you do not have a back up plan on how you can protect it from damages. Don't buy a too expensive boat as it might bother you later and you might have to sell the boat to shake out some money. Instead settle for a price range before you start looking and don't let yourself get sucked into the 'I got to have this one!'

Is the boat clean? If the seller hasn't bothered cleaning it before selling, what are the odds that he has been treating it good the time he had it? It's more important than you think. It's much better to buy a clean fishing boat from a pedant. Then you have a lesser chance of running into 'hidden errors'.

Don't buy a boat because you feel it's a great deal. Always have a look around and compare the price on it. A boat is just like a car and loses a lot of value in the beginning. Try to find the point where the value loss is not as steep anymore.

Even if you buy a used fishing boat online, from a local dealer or newspaper class fields it can be good to contact an expert. The expert can make a thorough examination of the boat and find errors you never would have. You can find a local boat expert simply by Googling for it and they usually charge around $10 per linear foot.

If you buy a newer used boat you should check the warranty. It feels a lot safer to buy a boat that has warranty. The first test rounds are critical and if something fails then you can easily use the warranty.

I hope that you liked these tips and I will come back with more good tips about used fishing boats.

About the author

Stefan Jonsson is a dedicated sportfisher and Boat expert.
Find good deals for small fishing boats and used bass fishing boats
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Stefan_Jonsson

Boats For Sale And Auction

Learn More About polaris watercraft
Modern yachts have efficient sail-plans, most notably the Bermuda rig, that allow them to sail towards the wind. They are motor cruisers which have been designed with the sports enthusiast in mind. The price and size of these vessels can range from about 15000 for a Jeanneau Leader 515, upwards to well over 150,000. Other competitively priced boats are the Cuddy Cabins produced by the likes of Bayliner, which are smaller in size but still offer a small underdeck cabin to relax in. Some are built by the same manufacturers as the motor cruisers to complete a full range of boats. At the luxury and performance end of the market both Fairline and Sealine amongst others have a sports series in their range.
Buy a sailboat yacht at our store.

Your Latest Boating, Sailing And Marine News
Tropical Storm Fay a Bust for Me - How About You?

Well, Tropical Storm Fay was a complete bust for Pinellas and Hillsborough counties in west-central Florida. You will find here a few tips to help you decide which types of boat trailers to buy or construct.

The foundation of boat trailers are their frames. They should therefore be really sturdy to last a long time. Boat trailers are usually metal-made, strengthened by welding at major tension areas on the frame.

They can also be made of wood, metal, and hard plastic. But you have to ensure that they are strong enough to withstand the heaviness of your boat over an extensive usage period and be able to survive extreme weather conditions.

Another factor to look into before buying boat trailers is its roadworthiness. It is to your advantage if the water is within the proximity of your home. More often, you would need to travel a few miles through roads and highways from your storage area to get to your destination.

Therefore the boat trailers you would have to acquire are those with heavy-duty tires and axles that would be able to turn with ease in traffic or in the freeway.
How the boat trailers attach to the cars, trucks, or recreational vehicles is also another factor to think about.

The procedure must not be that tedious or cumbersome. It should also be equipped with safety features so that no bolts and screws become loose during travel. Highly recommended are ball joints with durable chain attachments. Other fastening devices should also be functional rather than decorative over the long term.

Boat trailers also require periodic maintenance to be able to maximize its useful life. It is therefore suggested to give the above tips some careful thinking before purchasing or constructing your boat trailers.

About the author

You can also find more info on Boat Stereo and Boat Storage.

A sailboat or sailing boat is a boat propelled partly or entirely by sails.
