Boat Loans - Getting A Boat Loan You Can Afford

By Charlie Johnson

Unless you're flush with more cash than most people on the planet,
you'll need to secure a boat loan for that boat purchase you've
been thinking about. It's important to understand the basics of
boat loans so that you can secure the best boat loan possible.
So how do you do that?

A lot of lenders will be happy to grant you a boat loan. Just
remember, they're in business so they are looking out for their
best interests and not neccessarily yours.

But these boat lenders
need customers to stay in business so if you make it clear that
you are shopping around, they'll start looking at putting together
a boat loan offer that works well for you.

Where can you get a boat loan?

* Credit Unions

* Boat Dealers

* Financial Services Companies

* Boat Brokers

* Banks

The first place to check for a boat loan would be with a lender that
you've done business with in the past.

If you've been a customer for
awhile and they offer boat loans, it's a pretty good bet that they'll
work with you to give you good terms on your boat loan.

You'll still want to shop around and see what other terms you can get,
just to be sure. This include boat loan terms such as interest rates,
length of the boat loan, and monthly payments.

The types of boat loans available are:

* Fixed Rate Loan

* Variable Interest Rate Loan

* Simple Interest Rate Boat Loan

* A Balloon Payment Boat Loan

Keep in mind that your credit history, job stability, income, size of down
payment and length of the boat loan all will play factors in the terms you
can get, as well as which type of boat loan would be best for your financial
situation.

Once the boat loan is taken care of, you'll be ready for lots of great experiences
and adventures on your new boat.

Looking For Experienced Crew - Long Term Available

Tue, 27 May 2008 21:08:48 +0200
Hello everyone! I am at a crossroads in my life and am excited for the next adventure. My plan is to purchase a sailboat with the proceeds from the sale of my business and live/cruise/relax/explore for 6 months of the year- every year! (if anyone has any recommendations for what I should buy - I'm all ears - I'm looking to spend around $200kusd and like the idea of a multi hull) I have limited sailing experience but am certified in advanced navigation standard and off shore cruising standard by CYA. Because of my limited on water experience I am looking for an experienced person to be the "captain" of the boat and teach me along the way! Hopefully the candidate will be easy to get a long with and will be able to stay with the boat long term. (I will need someone to sail/maintain her when I'm not there for 6 months of the year!) The crew will only be expected to contribute an equal share of the cost of food and drinks. All boat costs (fuel, fees, marinas, etc.,) will be covered by me!. Each person is to cover their own travel expenses to/from the boat and their costs of personal visas, etc.

Tips On ski boats

Jet boats are highly maneuverable, and many can, from full speed, be reversed and brought to a stop within little more than their own length, in a maneuver known as a "crash stop". The well known Hamilton turn or "jet spin" is a high speed manoevre where the boat is turned sharply then the engine throttle is cut causing the boat's stern to lift and spin quickly around with a large spray of water.

Most monohulls larger than a dinghy require ballast, depending on the design ballast will be 20 to 50 percent of the displacement. The ballast is often integrated into their keels as large masses of lead or cast iron. This secures the ballast and gets it as low as possible to improve it's effectivness. External keels are cast in the shape of the keel. A monohull's keel is made effective by a combination of weight, depth and length.
Buy a new jet boat at our store.

For many years all inflatables were made of Neoprene/Hypalon (or rubber) materials. Today modern materials and construction processes have made it possible to make inflatables out of strong plastic materials called PVC or Strongan (Zodiac's fabric). So, today most inflatables are made out of PVC or Hypalon. Each fabric is different and requires different fabric and glue for repairs.

The Best Information On Boating

Boat Transports

By Jonny Holderbrock

Getting a large boat from here to there may seem simple just sail there! Ah, but this is often impossible given large land masses, which brings us to the issue of boat transports.

There is no question that the best way to get your boat from point A to point B is to sail it there. Some time this is not possible for the simple reason that there is no water between these two points. This is where boat transport comes into play. Of course, smaller boats have their own trailers and even many larger boats have them. It is the real large boats that require special trucking services. Many boat trucking companies are called yacht moving companies for this reason.

The boat trucking companies offer water to water service. They will pick up the boat from its original mooring and transfer it to any location in the world. The trucking companies are often called relocation companies for this reason. They provide everything that you need to safely relocate your boat from one location to the other. In many cases, there are even professional pilots available in the event that some part of the transfer must be on water.

Preparation for travel is one of the most important factors in the safe boat trucking of your boat. Despite all efforts to prevent damage, moving the boat over a highway is risky. If preparation is done properly, the risk is minimized. It is important to remove all protruding antennas or rigging. All loose items must be properly stowed and secured. It is very important to insure that all items of value and personal items are removed from the boat and transported separately. In almost every case, the boat trucking company will not assume responsibility for the loss of valuables or personal items.

There is some controversy about shrink wrapping the boat prior to transfer. Some boat trucking companies offer this service, and some owners have it done themselves prior to transport. It is essential that the shrink wrapping is done properly because if it tears during transport it will usually result in damage from flapping shrink wrap or abrasion.

Insurance is another issue. Most boat trucking companies will provide the opportunity to procure insurance coverage for the move. This insurance can supplement your existing insurance if it has transport provisions. In either case, a through inspection of the boat and accurate documentation of the boats condition before the move and after the move is essential. There are going to be times when large boats must be transported across land for one reason or another. When this happens, there are some very competent boat trucking companies ready to do it with a minimum of fuss.

Hints On boat ski bar

Make sure you are seen on the water. Even in bright, calm conditions a kayak can be nearly invisible. It is especially difficult for power-driven vessel and large vessel operators riding high in the water to see kayaks. Choose bright colours such as red, yellow or orange for your flotation device and kayak. Also, remember to keep signalling devices within hands reach in case of emergency.

She is immensely strong, hull and deck mouldings are laid up by hand to Lloyds Register approved specifications using Lloyds approved materials. The coachroof and inner coamings are stiffened with end core balsa and all deck fittings are reinforced by marine ply pads. The hull, deck and bulkheads are bonded with the toe rail through-bolted and sealed. Each yacht is customised and hand built to an owners specification

Racing yachts try to reduce the wetted surface area, which creates drag, by keeping the hull light whilst having a deep and heavy bulb keel, allowing them to support a tall mast with a great sail area. Modern designs tend to have a very wide beam and a flat bottom, to provide buoyancy preventing an excessive heel angle. Speeds of up to 35 knots can be attained in extreme conditions. Dedicated offshore racing yachts sacrifice crew comfort for speed, having basic accommodation to reduce weight. Depending on the type of race, such a yacht may have a crew of 15 or more. Very large inshore racing yachts may have a crew of 30.

Yacht "No Komis" Epirb Activated - Indonesia

Thu, 6 Dec 2007 10:43:49 +0200
We just got this message from a friend's wife. Her husband's EPIRB (Yacht NO KOMIS) went off and he dropped off the nets and e-mail. The local SAR does not seem to have many assets/capabilities. We don't know Indonesia very well, anyone have any suggestions as to any other actions she should take?

"Great to hear from you and get the photos. Life is stressful for me right now. Terry and his yacht "No Komis" are the subject of a search by Search & Rescue, Indonesia. The EPIRB went off last Saturday afternoon, transmitted for about 25 hours and stopped. There has been no Sailmail since Nov 28. Terry was leaving the next day for a brief overnight passage of 100nm. This could be a series of events, none serious, but then again, who knows. Any one thing is no problem, but putting them together does make you wonder what has happened. ......"

The Oceanswatch web site was interesting to me, but I'm not familiar with many charitable organizations traveling on small private yachts, and so I wrote to Oceanswatch for a copy of their charter before I went any further. They really haven't been very forthcoming, it seems. On their web site, under "charter" they state: "Copies of our Trust documents are available on request by emailing chris@oceanswatch.org" I emailed Chris, and here are the emails sent and received as of today. It doesn't cost him anything to send copies of this stuff to me, does it? So now I'm asking what does he have to hide? Anybody here know?

Hunter Class - South Africa - Official Website

8 Feb 2008 07:00:03 +0200
Hunter Boats was started in 1969, with the first "famous" boat being the NATIONAL SQUIB, designed and finished by Oliver Lee, and moulded by the Essex Boat Company. The Squib has gone on to reach national status with more than 800 on the water. In 1970, a chap named Michael Poland requested that the builder design a "lid" for the Squib, to enable him to sail it across the English Channel. As Poland's other favourite past-time was hunting, the boat was named the HUNTER 19! Oliver also designed a Squib with a lifting keel, called a TRACER, and then redesigned the Hunter 19 naming the new boat the EUROPA.

Actual-Facts Boat Buying Guide for First Timers

By Kathryn Ali

You are so excited that you have made the decision to join the world of boat owners. You want to buy your very first boat! Are you ready to go to the local marine dealer? Have you been asking questions, doing research about the type of boat you are looking for? There are some things that a first time boat buyer needs to think about before you make the big buy.

Boating is expensive. Are you going to use it enough to make it worth all investment and time that goes into a power boat for example and its upkeep?

Think about the costs of purchasing the boat, license, insurance, interest, fuel, oil, trailer, storage, repairs, use of a two vehicle, weekend trips, more fishing gear, skis, life jacketsEtc. There is a lot more to consider than buying a car.

There is also the time to consider getting everything ready before and after each outing in the boat.

Boat Shows: Going to a Boat Show is a great way to see what types and styles of boats are out there to choose from. It is a great place to collect information and to see the boats up close. You can learn a lot from the salespeoples own experiences. The salespeople can help you decide what size of boat you want. They should also be able to offer information about winterization, repairs, towing etc.

Boat Type: What type of boat are you looking for? Do you plan to operate it in salt water? Are you hoping to go fishing, ski, and cruise with your boat? The type of boats needs to suit your needs and time.

Big Is Not Always Best: It always is not better to buy the biggest boat your first time. They are harder to handle and look after. For a new boater, it also takes time to learn how to dock. Why not buy a small used boat the first time. There is a lot to learn and you wont be so upset when you hit the dock a few times.

Asking Price versus Selling Price: When you see a boat that you like, go to another boat dealer to compare prices and value. You can go online to compare boat prices too. That sticker price does not always mean the real price. Some times you can bargain and lower the price too. (Just as in buying a car) Have some fun. Learn to haggle so you can get a decent price.

Buying a new boat is quite the same as buying a new car. But there are far more safety rules to follow with boating. Take your time, do your research and you will find the boat that you want. Happy Boating.

Cheap Boat Insurance

By Alison Cole

One of the absolute pleasures that an individual can attain is by possessing his own boat. Cheap boat insurance reflects that the cost of boat insurance is relatively low, but at the same time it grants substantial damage coverage against any mishaps which might damage the boat.

This coverage is extensive, and offers coverage for the boat, its equipment and supplementary gear, outboard motors, boat trailer and individual assets. A cheap boat insurance policy offers physical destruction coverage on an actual cash value or an agreed amount value foundation. Together, boat insurance policies tender vital coverage for the boat, but there are major disparities.

Actual cash value policies finance replacement costs, minus depreciation at the point of the loss. In the event of total damage, second-hand boat pricing directions and additional funds are used to decide the estimated market rate of the boat. Partial damage costs are calculated by getting the entire charges of the restoration, minus the deductible.

Agreed amount value policies mean that the owner of the boat and the insurance company have decided on the cost of the boat, and in the aftermath of a total loss the owner will be compensated with that amount.

Agreed amount value policies also replace old objects with new ones, exclusive of any assumption for depreciation. The majority of agreed amount value policies necessitate actual cash value on specific destroyed assets like sails, protective covers, batteries, dinghies, trailers and aged outboard motors, lower drive units or outdrives.

Cheap boat insurance is an affordable way to shield an asset that might have cost a person his lifes saving.

Small vessels (whether pleasure or non-pleasure craft) that operate in Canada must be built according to the Construction Standards for Small Vessels TP 1332E. Most modern monohull boats have fin keels, which are heavy and deep, but short in relation to the hull length. More traditional yachts carried a full keel which is generally half or more of the length of the boat. A recent feature is a winged keel, which is short and shallow, but carries a lot of weight in two "wings" which run sideways from the main part of the keel. Even more recent is the concept of canting keels, designed to move the weight at the bottom of a sailboat to the upwind side, allowing the boat to carry more sails.
